XAT 2019XAT 2019 – Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur on behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). The XAT 2019 is going to be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 (10 AM- 1 PM). This is going to be an online entrance examination. The online XAT 2019 registration process is going to commence from August 20, 2018. Aspiring candidates who want to study at XLRI and other participating institutes that accept XAT score to offer admission can fill up the application form online. Near about 90,000 candidates take the test every year. There are around 150 B-schools across India which accept XAT scores.

XAT 2019 Recent Changes

  • Application Fee- The revised application fee is Rs. 1700/-. Earlier it was Rs. 1650/-.
  • Test Duration- The total duration for XAT 2019 will be 3 hours. Earlier the total duration was of 3:35 hours.
  • Test Centre- Agartala is no more in the list. Now the exam is going to be conducted across 46 cities in the country.
  • Exam Pattern- Essay Writing section is not there anymore. As per the recent changes that have been brought to the exam pattern, there are going to be four sections, which include Verbal and Logical Ability (VA & LR), Decision Making (DM), Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation (QA & DI), General Knowledge (GK).

XAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

This is perhaps one of the most important areas candidates should look into. It is a must for them to know if they match the eligibility criteria or not. The eligibility criteria that all candidates appearing for XAT 2019 have to match are as follows:

  • The candidates need to have done graduation from an accredited University or Institute. The duration of the programme is required to be a minimum of three years.
  • Candidates, who are in their final year of graduation, may also apply, provided they complete their Bachelor’s programme within the stipulated duration.
  • There is no specific age limit to apply for the entrance test.
  • NRI or Foreign students may apply; however, they will have to submit their GMAT scores. Candidates from Nepal and Dubai will not have to submit their GMAT scores as XAT will be conducted in these two centres.

XAT 2019 Registration

The XAT 2019 registration process will commence from August 20, 2018 and it is going to be completely online. The last date of the registration process is expected to be November 30, 2018. Candidates will be able to register for the test by filling up the application form and making payment for the fee. All these have to be done online.

 

XAT 2019 Steps for Application Form Filling Process

By visiting the official website of XAT, candidates will have to enter basic details such as name and contact details.

  • After they provide these details, they will be sent the login credentials, with the help of which they have to log in to the website and complete the application process of XAT 2019.
  • They will be asked to provide information like personal details, academic details, and professional details. They will have to upload the scanned images of their recent photograph and signature.
  • They will be required to choose XLRI programmes (optional).
  • In the final step, they will have to pay the application fee.

XAT 2019 Application Fee

Candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs.1700. However, candidates who cannot fill up the application form within the deadline period, may apply by paying the late application fee of Rs.2000. For each of the programme, candidates would need to an extra fee of Rs. 300. While those who are applying late will have to pay Rs.500. Candidates will be allowed to pay the fee online through various modes, including Credit Cards, Debit Cards (RuPay / Visa / Master Card / Maestro), and Internet Banking.

XAT 2019 Exam Pattern

The XAT 2019 entrance test is going to be a computer-based test (online) of 180 minutes duration in total. The test will consist of four sections, including VA & LR, DM, QA & DI, and GK. Essay Writing has been removed from the official exam pattern of XAT 2019. The exam pattern is further mentioned in tabular format herein below:

Marking Scheme:

For answering each question correctly, candidates will be awarded one mark. In case they answer any wrong question, 1/4th of the total marks from that question will be deducted.  Beyond 8, for each of the unattended question, 0.05 marks will be deducted.

XAT 2019 Admit Card

The XAT 2019 admit card will be available for the candidates who successfully fill up the application form and make payment of the application fee. However, the admit card will not be sent by post. The candidates will have to download the hall ticket from the official website of XAT. The hall ticket will be available from December 20, 2018. To download the admit card, candidates will have to use their XAT ID and password. Candidates must know that without the admit card, they will not be able to appear for the exam. The candidate’s name, date of birth and contact details along with the test center name and address will be displayed in the hall ticket; thus, candidates should make sure that all these information are included in the admit card they download. They will also find instructions related to the exam day in the admit card. If they find any information missing in the admit card, they can get in touch with the exam authority.

The exam centres for XAT 2019 is likely to be more or less same this year as that of 2018. This means there will be 48 cities in India and two outside the country, i.e. Dubai and Kathmandu.

XAT 2019 Answer Key

XLRI will be releasing the official XAT 2019 answer key and OMR sheet in the second week of January. Candidates, who take the entrance test would be able to check their number of correct answers as well as estimate their scores. It will give them an idea of the colleges they can get a call from.

XAT 2019 Result

The XAT 2019 result will be announced in the last week of January 2019 in online mode. By using their ID and password, candidates will be able to check their result from the official website. The result will be declared in the form of scorecard which will include the sectional and overall score. Candidates will receive the hard copy of their scorecard at their registered address. Candidates must keep their scorecard until the entire admission process is over.

XAT 2019 Cut off

The cut off will be released after the XAT 2019 results are announced. The cut off percentile will depend on factors like difficulty level of exam, the number of candidates appearing for the test and a number of seats offered in the programme, etc. to get an idea of cut off. Candidates can check the cut of XAT of previous year.

XAT 2019 Participating Institutes

More than 150 B-schools accept the XAT scores. Among the participating institutes are either Xavier Associate Management Institutes (XAMI) or Non-XAMI. As per last year’s data, the XAMI institutes were 11 in number while non-XAMI institutes were 145. Some of the participating institutes are as follows:

XAT 2019 Selection Process

The selection procedure will commence once the results and cut off are declared. Candidates must be aware of the fact that the selection procedure may vary from one B-school to another B-school. The process is divided into two steps. In the first step, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their XAT score and cut off of the institute. In the second step, shortlisted candidates will further be called for Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Essay Writing or Group Discussion/Group Activity and Personal Interview rounds.

Some institutes conduct the selection procedure through GD and PI for the final selection while WAT and PI are conducted by some other. The selection process differs from one institute to the other. Criteria such as past academic records, work experience or the overall profile of a candidate are considered by the B-schools.
