MICAT 2019: Registration, Application Form, Syllabus, Exam Pattern

MICAT 2019 – MICA Admission Test, MICAT is going to be conducted twice a year by Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad. The registration process for MICA 1 has been started  24th of August,  2018 and for MICA 2 the, registration process will begin from 3rd of January 2019. The test is conducted with an aim to offer admission to the aspiring candidates to PGDM-C courses at the national level. The exam date for MICAT 1 is in 1st of December 2018 after changed due to another exam was conducted in 2nd December, while the exam date for MICA 2 is in 9th of February 2019. The final admission of the candidates will be done on the basis of the marks they obtained in CAT/XAT/GMAT, written test, and GE & PI. However, before the candidates start filling up the application form, they must go through the eligibility criteria thoroughly. This will help them to know if they fulfil all the eligibility criteria and may crack the test. They also must note that their application form will be rejected if they are found to be not matching all the eligibility criteria as set up by Mudra Institute of Communications.

MICAT 2019 Important Dates (Schedule)

MICAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria is perhaps one of the most significant things candidates must check before they fill up the application form for MICAT 2019. To match the eligibility criteria, candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution. The course they have done must have been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Scorecard of MICAT 2019 and CAT/XAT/GMAT exam that is valid.
  • Candidates, who are pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree and in the final year, may also apply for the test.

MICAT 2019 Registration

The registration form for MICAT 1 2019 has been started from the 24th of August, 2018 and the registration process for MICAT 2 2019 will commence from 3rd of January, 2019. In order to fill the application form, candidates will have to enter personal details, contact information, academic details, preferred exam centre, and finally they will be required to upload the scanned copy of their latest passport size photograph in the format as prescribed by MICA. After filling up the application form properly, the candidates will have to proceed towards paying the application fee, which is Rs. 1965.

MICAT 2019 Exam Pattern

The MICA exam pattern is divided into six sections. Candidates will have to prepare according to the topics included in the examination. There will be around 140-150 questions in the question paper. The total duration of the examination will be two hour and 45 minutes.

So far the marking scheme is concerned; candidates are required to understand that the marking scheme is usually not disclosed to the candidates. However, as the past year trends suggest, there is no negative marking for subjective type questions and the Psychometric test questions. Except for these two, all other sections will have negative marking. Candidates are also required to know that questions from the Psychometric test are mandatory.

Divergent-Convergent Reasoning: This section comprises topics that are based on reasoning. The topics covered in this section are:

  • Sequence and Series
  • Visual Reasoning
  • Data Sufficiency
  • Word Association
  • Statement-Assumption
  • Descriptive Test

Psychometric Test: This test intends to check the personality, weakness, thinking ability, strength etc.

Essay Writing: The candidates will be required to write an essay in a minimum of 250 words. The candidates would be required to come up with their own opinion on any topic or issue.

Story Writing: In this area, the candidates will be provided with various pictures and on the basis of that, they will have to write a story.

MICAT 2019 Admit Card

The admit card will be released by Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) on its official site. The details included in the admit card will be Name, Roll number, MICAT 2019 exam date, Time, Exam centre name, and Address of examination centre. The admit card will only be available for those candidates who apply for the test successfully. The candidates must note that they will get only one chance to download the admit card. They must take a print out of the admit card and carry it to the exam venue along with a valid ID proof. The candidates must keep their admit card safely until their admission process is over.

MICAT 2019 Result

Candidates, who appear for the MICAT 2019, will be able to download the result from the official website of MICA for PGDM-C. The result will be available to the candidates in the form of MICAT scorecard. To download the scorecard, candidates will have to enter their login ID and password in the MICAT login form. The details included in the scorecard will be Candidates’ name, their Roll number, and the marks scored by them in the test.

Candidates must take a printout of the scorecard as they will have to show it during the selection process.

MICAT 2019 Cutoff

In order to get selected for the further rounds to get admission in the institute, candidates will have to qualify the cutoff marks. The cutoff marks will be announced eventually, in accordance to the guidelines and rules of MICA. On the basis of the previous years’ trends, the expected cutoffs are mentioned in the table herein below:

MICAT 2019 GE and PI Round Details

The admission of the candidates will be based on CAT/XAT/GMAT and MICAT 2019 scores. The final rounds will be on the basis of Group Exercise and Personal Interview. Candidates, who are shortlisted, will have to attend their GE/PI round at cities like Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Mumbai centres.

MICAT 2019 Merit List

MICA will release a separate merit list of MICAT 2019. The merit list will have details as well as information about selected candidates for their final admission in the institute. The merit list will be published by MICA after the GE and PI round is over.

In the GE round, a candidate will have to score minimum 3.5 marks on the scale of 5 points. While, in the PI round, the candidates will have to score at least 4 marks, on the scale of 5. Last but not the least; the candidates will have to be recommended by all the panel members.

The weightage of each of the section separately is as follows.

CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%

MICAT: 30%

GE: 20%

PI: 30%
