NMAT 2018: Application Form, Registration, Exam Date, Eligibility, Syllabus

NMAT 2018 – NMAT is an MBA entrance exam which is going to be conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). Through this exam, candidates will be able to take admission in NMIMS University and 25 other participating business schools across the country. The registration process for NMAT by GMAC has already been commenced from July 3, 2018 and the last date of the same is October 3, 2018. Candidates, who register themselves within this period of time, will not have to pay any fee. However, candidates, who fill up the application in the late window, will have to pay the late fee. Therefore, it is advisable to them that they fill up the application form at the earliest, with correct details.

NMAT by GMAC is computer- based test which runs for 75 days. This year, the exam will start on October 4 and will continue till December 17, 2018. The aspirants will be able to choose the exam venue/date/time as per their convenience as well as preference. Some of the participating B-schools of NMAT 2018 are Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Xavier School of Rural Management – Bhubaneswar, UPES Dehradun, etc. The total duration of the test is two hours and the total numbers of questions are 120 multiple choice questions. There will be a total of three sections in the exam paper. Candidates will be allowed to retake the exam thrice and not more than that. The entrance test is going to be held in 44 Indian cities and four International cities.

NMAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria to apply for NMAT 2018 is one of the most important factors which candidates must not miss out. As a matter of fact, it is something that every candidate must be aware of even before they register themselves or fill up the application in order to apply for the entrance exam.

  • The aspiring candidates have to have done graduation in any discipline from an accredited university or institute with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Candidates in their final year of graduation may also apply. However, they will have to secure at least 50% in their final examination.
  • Working professionals with experience may also apply for the full-time programmes.

 

NMAT 2018 Registration

To take the entrance exam, candidates will have to register and even pay the application fee before they schedule the test date and location. The registration process for NMAT 2018 has already started on July 3rd, 2018 and will be available for the aspiring candidates till October 3rd, 2018. Candidates must note that the registration as well as application process is completely online. Candidates, who fail to apply in between these 90 days, may apply till October 16, 2018 but they will have to pay the late fee.

After the NMAT registration process is done, the candidates will be sent NMAT user ID and password to their registered email address they have mentioned in the application form. As they receive the credentials, they would require to login to the application window and complete the entire process by filling in the form with details including personal, academic and work experience. They will also have to select the B-schools where in they would send their scores after they get qualify the exam. They will be able to select at least five programmes while applying for the test. They will also be required to upload scanned images of their recent coloured passport size photographs and signature under mentioned dimensions.

 

NMAT 2018 Application Fee

Aspiring candidates, who fill up the application properly, will be able to pay the application fee through various modes, which include Master Card/Visa Card/Debit Card/American Express/Diners Club/Net Banking & Mobile Wallets. NMAT 2018 Slot Booking

Once GMAC receives the registration fee of the candidates, the candidates will be able to get started with the NMAT slot booking process. An email with their “USERNAME” & “PASSWORD” will be sent to the candidates to their registered e-mail address that they mention in the application form. They will have to login with these credentials and schedule the exam as per their preference as well convenience. The option of scheduling the exam will be available to the candidates in their account in the site, on the “scheduling exam tab” in the dashboard. On the basis of the availability of the seats, the venue of the test centre, exam date & time have to be selected by the candidates.  The slot booking process is done on a first come, first serve basis. Within the 24 hours of test scheduling, candidates will receive an email in which the name of their test centre & address along with the date & time of the exam will be mentioned. If in case any candidate does not receive any email within the stipulated time, they may contact the officials immediately.

 

NMAT 2018 Admit Card

Once the application fee is paid, the NMAT admit card 2018 by GMAC can be downloaded from the dashboard. Candidates must note that they will not be sent any hard copy of the admit card by post or by any other means. Candidates must carry the admit card along with them while they take the test at the exam centre. Without the admit card, they will not be allowed to take the test. They are also advised to carry an identity proof to the examination hall to appear for NMAT 2018.

 

NMAT 2018 Exam Pattern

The NMAT by GMAC 2018 is going to be a completely computer based test. Candidates will come across multiple choice questions. Candidates who want to retake the test will be able to retake it three times a year and not more than that under any circumstance. If they are not satisfied after appearing for the test, they will be able to re-schedule it. The total duration of the exam will be two hours. The total numbers of questions that the candidates will have to answer are 120 MCQs. The candidates will get one mark for answering each question. There is no concept of any negative marking in this exam. The exam will be divided into three sections, which include Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning.

NMAT 2018 Marking Scheme

As the marking scheme is concerned, for answering each question correctly, candidates will get one mark. There will not be any negative marking for any incorrect answer. Therefore, candidates will not have to worry about any mark getting deducted even if they do not answer to the questions correctly.

 

NMAT 2018 Syllabus

  1. Language skills: This section is meant for checking the verbal ability, language structure skills and reading comprehension of the candidates. Mentioned herein below are the important topics to be covered under this section:

  1. Quantitative skills: This section is designed for checking the quantitative ability of the candidates. This section will be focusing on topics such as data interpretation, problem-solving and data sufficiency. The problem-solving section will have questions from arithmetic, geometry, modern mathematics, algebra and number systems.
  2. Logical reasoning: This section will have questions based on family tree, numeric grid, arrangement, coding and series.

NMAT 2018 Result

Candidates, who appear for the test, will be able to check their NMATA result 2018 on the official site. Candidates will be able to login to the site with the credentials they received at the time of registration. They will be able to check the result and download the same which will be available in the form of score card. The NMAT 2018 result is likely to be announced in the second week of January 2019. The candidates will be sent an email about the NMAT 2018 result declaration. Once the final percentile is declared, the scores of the candidates will be sent to the five preferred B-schools, as chosen by them during the application form fill up.

 

NMAT 2018 Cut-off

The candidates will be chosen by the participating institutes on the basis of the NMAT cut-off marks. However, candidates must note that the cut-off marks of each of the institutes vary from one another. Therefore, candidates are advised to know the cut-off marks of each of the institute they want to apply for. It will be helpful for them to have an idea of the B-schools they may get admission into.

NMAT 2018 Selection Process

After the result is declared, the participating institutes will shortlist the candidates, based on the cut-off marks. Since there is no common selection process, the selection procedure will differ from one institute to the other institute. The candidates, who are shortlisted by the participating institutes, will have to go through the Group Discussion (GD) or Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview rounds. On the basis of the performance of the candidates in the Group Discussion (GD) or Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview rounds, or past academic records and work experience, the final merit list will be announced. The admission criteria of each of the institute will be different.
